Allan Rowell, who is passionate about Local Food & an advocate of permaculture, runs Hendon Regenerative Culture Garden. You may recognise the name as Allan supplies us with some fruit & veg. and has put an event together inviting people to take part in growing some food of their own.

Lettuce are a surprisingly hardy plant, continuing to grow through the Autumn and, with some shelter from the worst frosts they survive the Winter, bursting back into life in Spring giving us much needed fresh food at a time when there is little about.

Allan will provide information on how to care for and harvest the salad leaves as well as where to keep your container and how to protect it from predators and from frost (if kept outside).

Please choose from a Small or Large box (see photo gallery for reference).
(Example box shown planted with: Chicory Palls rossa Chicory De Sucre Lettuce Little gem Lettuce Valdor Corriander Corn salad Kale Red Russian Dill).

Payment entitles one named person to membership of HRCG’s private Facebook group Salad Box Support Group, where Allan and other members of the group can support each other as we all learn how best to care for the boxes. Topics will include: feeding, watering, siting, harvesting and what to grow in the boxes over the Summer.

*The website insists on offering a shipping option. Please choose Pick Up from Shop and proceed to Check Out. You will receive an email confirmation of your booking. Please bring this confirmation with you to the event – either on your phone or as a print out.
