Organic Apples

One of the most consumed and cultivated fruits in the world, it may well be one of the healthiest foods to include in your daily diet. UK apple season begins late August with the Discovery variety and as the seasons change we will bring you various types from home and when not in season, from abroad. There’s nothing like biting into a fresh crisp apple!

Wash before eating.

* Like us, not all fruit or vegetables are perfectly formed and are not uniform in size. We don’t believe in discriminating against misshapen carrots or imperfect potatoes and in fact, love them for their flaws. A less than round apple is still as tasty as their perfectly formed cousins. Taste is what we believe in, because it’s what’s inside that counts. Unless your produce is clearly defective, please accept them as Nature intended.

Storage info

Apples have a long shelf life – store somewhere dark and cool. They can be kept fresher for longer in the fridge.

Health benefits

An apple a day keeps the doctor away! This may well be one of the healthiest foods for you to include in your diet. Apples are extremely rich in antioxidants that help to protect our cells from free radical damage caused by factors such as pollution, cigarette smoke, UV rays and even inflammation within the body, often as a result of a poor diet or some medications. Apples also contain dietary fibre needed to support a healthy digestive system, as well as vitamins A and C that support the immune system, vitamin K needed for blood clotting, biotin (vitamin B7) that helps to break down fat, and iodine which is involved in healthy thyroid function. The pectin found in apples is also believed to reduce cholesterol and may also protect against diabetes due to its high flavonoid content.
