Gingerlong – Oolong Tea & Ginger Kombucha

FUNK! Kombucha take a quality, ethically sourced Oolong tea from the Estate Tea Co. in Gateshead/Newcastle, brew with filtered water and cane sugar and then slow ferment for 3-4 weeks. Fermented with a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast, a SCOBY, they test the brew frequently until they achieve the right balance of acidity and sweetness. They then harvest the Kombucha into kegs where they infuse with dried ginger for 3 days before tasting. They then chill the Kombucha prior to carbonation and bottling.
Best enjoyed cold – this is a refreshing, carbonated, beverage that has complex flavours with spicy ginger notes on top of the Oolong tea base. It’s a tangy kick of a thirst-quencher; refreshing and slightly fizzy, as well as being lower in sugar than many other soft drinks. 

Kombucha contains trace amounts of alcohol produced during fermentation – generally up to 0.5%ABV.

FUNK! Kombucha is produced by John in the same premises used by Sunshine Co-operative. That’s a huge reduction in food miles!!
