Considered to be one of the delicacies of the vegetable world, asparagus has an distinct, intense, savoury flavour. They are labour intensive to grow and are actually the young shoots of a cultivated lily plant.
Boil for 3-5 minutes or steam for 4-5 minutes depending upon size. Season and drizzle with some olive oil or butter with freshly squeezed lemon. A little balsamic vinegar or shaved parson also work well.
Wash before eating.
