Description
Botanical name Cocos Nucifera, the coconut is the mainstay in the diet of nearly a third of the planet. Apparently you can describe it as a fruit, nut or a seed – otherwise known as a drupe!! Who knew!
So versatile that every part of this “drupe” can be used for various reasons but if we’re talking about eating and drinking, use the flesh and water within. There are many ways to open a coconut – some more glamorous than others, but if in doubt, a hammer can come in useful!! Once open, you only need a knife and vegetable peeler to free the flesh.
Use in smoothies, grate and add to cereal, blended in curries and other sauces, or leave to steep overnight in water to create your own milk – there are endless possibilities!
* Like us, not all fruit or vegetables are perfectly formed and are not uniform in size. We don’t believe in discriminating against misshapen carrots or imperfect potatoes and in fact, love them for their flaws. A less than round apple is still as tasty as their perfectly formed cousins. Taste is what we believe in, because it’s what’s inside that counts. Unless your produce is clearly defective, please accept them as Nature intended.
