Description

There’s nothing like a good date! Deliciously sweet, succulent and chewy with caramel overtones – eat on their own or as an addition to smoothies and porridge to add a sweeter note. Always great to add to cakes.

Ancient history on your plate, they hail from a  tropical oasis and are brimming with much-needed minerals and energy to help stay fit and healthy. They grow on the palm tree Phoenix Dactylifera which is believed to originate in the lands on the banks of Nile and Euphrates Rivers of ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia.

It’s a ‘drupe’!! Apparently that’s the name of a fruit whose outer fleshy part surrounds a shell.

Wash before eating.

Date fruit allergy is a rare occurrence. However, some are sensitised to birch family pollen, exposure to date palm pollen may elicit cross-hypersensitivity reactions. For the same reason, avoid any food preparations that contain date palm products in these people.

* Like us, not all fruit or vegetables are perfectly formed. We don’t believe in discriminating against misshapen carrots or imperfect potatoes and in fact, love them for their flaws. A less than round apple is still as tasty as their perfectly formed cousins. Unless your produce is clearly defective, please accept them as Nature intended.
