Organic Fairtrade Bananas

The UK’s favourite fruit, an energy booster and a nutritional powerhouse!

Simply peel and eat or add to smoothies and cereal. Whether you prefer them less ripe with slightly green skins, perfectly ripe or over-ripe with brown skins, you can’t go wrong with a banana. Remember, don’t throw away the overly ripe bananas – make a banana cake with them.

Wash before eating.

* Like us, not all fruit or vegetables are perfectly formed. We don’t believe in discriminating against misshapen carrots or imperfect potatoes and in fact, love them for their flaws. A less than round apple is still as tasty as their perfectly formed cousins. Unless your produce is clearly defective, please accept them as Nature intended.

Additional information

Storage info

Bananas will continue to ripen if stored at room temperature, especially if in a bag where the natural gases it emits stimulate further ripening. In a fruit bowl, they will ripen the other fruit. Bananas don't naturally like the cold, so it is not advised to put into the refrigerator, however they do freeze well. Peel off the skin first and put in a freezer bag. Great to add to smoothies when frozen.

Health benefits

Bananas are an excellent source of potassium, vitamin B6, fibre, carbohydrate, and some vitamin C. With a lower water content than most fruit, they typically have more calories as well as a higher sugar content compared to other non-tropical fruits. Potassium helps to regulate heart function as well as fluid balance – a key factor in regulating blood pressure; lows blood pressure and protects against heart disease and strokes. Bananas are soothing to the gastrointestinal tract due to their high content of pectin – as soluble fibre that not only lowers cholesterol but normalises bowel function. They promote a feeling of fullness.
