A highly versatile fruit and although a little too sour to eat on its own, its citrus fragrance and tartness can be used in a vast multitude of ways, either savoury or sweet. Our lemons are unwaxed and its peel can be used to add extra flavour and zing. Use to flavour fish, in sauces, salad dressings, cakes, desserts and drinks – hold or cold. The possibilities are endless.
Known for its high content of vitamin C, lemon can be taken in tea, for general health and to ward off or help relieve cold symtoms. It is also said that adding a warm lemon drink to your morning routine can help to cleanse your body, improve digestion and help lessen appetite!
Boil water and add either squeeze the juice of half a lemon or 1-2 lemon slices to your cup or teapot – let them steep. Add a spoonful of honey for sweetness and additional healing benefits once the water has cooled a little.
Ginger is another ingredient that can be added to this drink for taste and for increased health benefits. Fresh ginger is best. Peel a small chunk and let it steep in the hot water alongside the lemon or alternatively, add the ginger to a garlic crusher to extract the juice directly into your cup or pot.
It can also be used as an all natural cleaning aid. Simply cut a lemon in half and rub over kitchen surfaces!
Wash before eating.
* Like us, not all fruit or vegetables are perfectly formed. We don’t believe in discriminating against misshapen carrots or imperfect potatoes and in fact, love them for their flaws. A less than round apple is still as tasty as their perfectly formed cousins. Unless your produce is clearly defective, please accept them as Nature intended.
