Described at vegetable meat, they have a pleasing flavour and can be enjoyed stuffed, marinated, fried, grilled or baked. The mushroom is a versatile and essential ingredient to many dishes. Amazing in an omelette or added to pasta, a perfect ingredient in risotto and soup, sliced thinly as a pizza topping or simply fried with onions in a stir-fry. Or raw – chopped or sliced in a salad. Don’t spoil these wonderful creatures by peeling, gently wipe clean instead – they deserve it!
