Organic White Mushrooms

Described at vegetable meat, they have a pleasing flavour and can be enjoyed stuffed, marinated, fried, grilled or baked. The mushroom is a versatile and essential ingredient to many dishes. Amazing in an omelette or added to pasta, a perfect ingredient in risotto and soup, sliced thinly as a pizza topping or simply fried with onions in a stir-fry. Or raw – chopped or sliced in a salad. Don’t spoil these wonderful creatures by peeling, gently wipe clean instead – they deserve it!

* Like us, not all fruit or vegetables are perfectly formed. We don’t believe in discriminating against misshapen carrots or imperfect potatoes and in fact, love them for their flaws. A less than round apple is still as tasty as their perfectly formed cousins. Unless your produce is clearly defective, please accept them as Nature intended.

Health benefits

White mushrooms contain varying degrees of protein and fibre, B vitamins as well as a powerful antioxidant called selenium, which helps to support the immune system and prevent damage to cells and tissues.
In particular, white button mushrooms are one of the few non-animal sources of vitamin D. When they are grown, whether indoor or outdoor, they are exposed to UV light which increases their concentration of this vitamin.
They can lower cholesterol and have a potential to protect against cancer and heart disease by protecting our cells against DNA damage and by maintaining healthy blood pressure and circulation. Certain cooking methods such as grilling may increase the level of nutrients!
